PAPERS: GUIDELINES
FOR AUTHORS
Scope and requirements:
The "Revista Galega dos Recursos Mariños"
(Galician Journal of Marine Resources) wellcomes all scientific
papers in the area of marine resources in Galicia or any related
topic. Papers may address issues both related to the resources themselves
or to processes affecting them or their sustainable exploitation.
The "Revista Galega dos Recursos Mariños"
will accept for publication all the manuscripts received provided
they meet the requirements of content, scientific quality, presentation
and originality. Papers must be properly presented and their scientific
content must not have been published in or sent to another journal.
Manuscripts must follow the preparation guidelines given here.
Language:
Papers may be submitted in Galician, Spanish or English
or even in several of these languages. The abstract, the figure
captions and the table headings, must be both in English and Galician/Spanish.
Title and abridged title:
The title must accurately describe the contents in the
paper and must be as short as possible. The abridged title must
be descriptive too but must not go beyond 48 characters, including
spaces.
Abstract, descriptive record and keywords:
Articles and Technical Reports, as well as Monographs, Manuals and
Balances and Perspectives, must include a concise abstract describing
the contents. Whenever possible, the main results and conclusions
must be included in this abstract. The abstract of the Notes must
be limited to two or three lines describing their content.
Manuscripts for the series "Data" must
include a descriptive data summary table apart from the abstract.
This data summary table must describe the space and time scope of
the data as well as their quality and possible use. The structure
of this data summary table is given under annex 1 in this document.
Keywords must be included in order to describe the
topic of the paper in English and another official language for
the journal. Its number cannot exceed 10.
Text:
All papers, except those of the series ÅgDataÅh, must
be double spaced with ample margins and consecutively numbered pages
and preferably with consecutive line numbers too. Scientific names
must be in italics, with the name of the author the first time they
are cited. The genus can be abbreviated except for the first quotation
in each paragraph. Additionally to the scientific names common names
must be given whenever possible.
There is no limit, in terms of extension, except
for Notes, that must not exceed 1,000 words or 7,000 characters.
References, abbreviations, units and numbers:
Bibliographical references both in the body of the text and the
bibliography must follow Harvard style.
Standard abbreviated names for journals must be used
although abbreviations included in the Serials Source List for Aquatic
Sciences and Fisheries Abstracts may be used too. The list is available
at
http://www.csa.com/ids70/serials_source_list.php?db=aquclust-set-c
SI units must be used following the abbreviations
from the ISO (International Standards Association). Dots must be
used to separate decimals from numbers.
Charts:
Charts must be numbered in Arabic numbers and shall have their headings
in English and another official language for the journal. Charts
must be legible and shall be attached independently from the body
of the text.
Ilustrations:
Illustrations must be of high resolution and quality. Black and
white is preferred (technical or linear drawings) or on a grey scale
(maps, photographs), but colour pictures may be admitted when necessary.
Technical graphs and lineal drawings must be submitted
in electronic format with a minimum resolution of 1000 ppp (dpi)
in their final minimum size and, at least, in tiff format. Colour
or grey scale illustrations must be submitted with a minimum resolution
of 600 ppp in their final size and preferably in tiff or jpeg format.
Illustrations must use Arabic numbers. Footnotes
for all graphs must be attached independently from the body of the
text.
Galley
proofs:
Galley proofs shall be sent to the contact author or shall be made
available through electronic means so that they can be proof read
and sent back in a maximum deadline of seven days. If no corrections
are sent within that deadline the content of the galley proofs is
assumed to be correct.
Correspondencia:
